Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is it?

Persist Kids is a science backed leadership program with an SEL component, providing students with the tools and strategies they need to not only succeed, but to triumph in the face of adversity and push through setbacks to achieve their goals. The foundational pillars of the program include teaching students to have grit (long-term persistence), growth mindset (I can improve my abilities with practice and effort) and resilience.

How does it work?

We have individual grade level workbooks, teacher manuals, and professional development training for each grade from K-8. There are 20 lessons which are typically delivered on a weekly basis during Social Studies, Advisory period, or PE. Most schools deliver the program over a period of 5 months (i.e. November to March, etc.)

What is the science to back it up?

Multiple studies by Angela Duckworth, Ph.D. have shown that grit predicts success for both children and adults across multiple settings. In other words, the higher one’s level of grit, the more successful they are. Moreover, there have been many studies on the importance of having a growth mindset in overall student success, largely done by Carol Dweck, Ph.D. of Stanford University.

What are the benefits?

Kids who learn to have grit, a growth mindset and resilience, will be more successful than those who are less gritty, over the long run. High grit kids simply won’t give up when others will.

How much is it?

There is a baseline cost per student that decreases in price as more classrooms in that grade are added. Please send a request for an individualized quote for your school/district.
